“TEAM SPIRIT LEADS THE CAR,
CAR SPIRIT LEADS THE PILOT,
PILOT SPIRIT LEADS THE RACE,
RACE SPIRIT LEADS TO VICTORY,
VICTORY SPIRIT LEADS TO LEGEND,
AFTER THE RACE, PARTS OF LEGEND.”
These are recreated graffiti artworks of actual racing car hoods/doors on actual vintage type G 911 hoods/doors by the creative two person Belgian Artist team. Currently there are Porsches only, but BMWs and others will be added.
Jean-Denis Claessens Founder & Art Director
After his studies as a graphic designer, Jean-Denis immediately created his own advertising company in the early 90’s.
Inspired by his love of speed and motion, he named it “Boomerang”. Later, Jean-Denis widened his range of activities to DVD-edition, and then to movie production and direction.
Since he was 19, passionate about automotive history and high on the thrill of competition, he has competed behind the wheel of both an Escort RS 2000 and a BMW M3 e30 and has become a regular in rallies and racetracks.
He is often to be seen on the circuits of Francorchamps and Nürburgring driving various Porsches 911.
His artistic fiber has kept driving him to Art Cars. “Mes pop cars” by Hervé Poulain, is his favorite book.
It is through this culture that the “After the Race” concept has come to his mind; turning into pieces of art the hoods and doors of those mythical race cars.
*« Mister le Mans » has become the nickname of Belgian pilot Jacky Ickx due to his six victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. He owns the greatest motor sports record among Belgian pilots and is known as much for his gentleman attitude as for his many trophies.
*The circuit of Spa-Francorchamps is internationally acknowledged as the most beautiful circuit in the world.
Edmond “Pogo” Thonnard Contemporary Artist
Just like Keith Harring, Banksy, Jef Aérosol or Speedy Graffito, he is part of the pioneers of European street art nourished by the underground culture of the 80’s. He triggered the vocation of several graffiti artists from the hip-hop movement who acknowledge him as a precursor of Belgian spraycan art.
A free electron defining himself as a polyvalent, variable-geometry artist, Pogo has also been a video decorator, an exhibition scenographer (Jean-Claude Mézières, Enki Bilal in 2001…) and designer, a comedian and a rock singer. The House of Science in Liege, the Euro Space Center and the biggest global WWI exhibition have also used his services.
Driven by hyperrealism, backed by years of graphic and pictorial experience, this autodidact multifaceted artist keen on two and four-wheel speedsters did not hesitate to become a part of the After The Race concept, investing his talent in fixing power, speed and everything that makes the soul of the race on metal.
Priced from 2.911 € – 4.911 €, These seem to be very beautiful artworks and clever business at the same time.
You can select patterns of your choosing, and they’ll deliver the final artwork to you in 4 weeks.
Belgians seem to know how to make things more valuable, as seen in Belgian Beers, Waffles, and Tintin Products.
